Our online and DVD ROM self-study Classes are designed to be used on your schedule. The courses will provide you with the same theory presented in our in-person classes. The online classes offer an added bonus of the class being available to you 24/7 for 3 weeks of enrollment time.
Take us with you! The DVD ROM programs allow you to own a portable version of our programs to review again and again online or offline. Both the online and DVD ROM programs allow you to study at anytime; day or night at your own pace. Courses available and prices are:

Short IV Catheter Insertion- 1 - (click on title for flyer) New to IV insertion? This class gives you the basics. This class is designed for beginners and those brushing up on IV basics. 4 contact hours for this class offered until Sept. 29, 2011.**.
Phlebotomy for Nursing Personnel- 1 - (click on title for flyer) Program includes two 2+ hours sessions, and an online exam. Instuction in venipuncture and capillary blood sampling techniques, complications, proper sample handling, and prevention of test result errors.***
Phlebotomy for Nursing Personnel- 1 & In-person Lab Practicum- Combines the freedom of independent online study with a hands on lab experience (click on title for flyer). Program includes every thing included in our online class (see online class details above) PLUS a scheduled hands on lab practicum led by our National Phlebotomy Association Certified Instructor. Next lab practicum to be held on August 27th 2010 at our office.
PHLEBOTOMY CLASS DETAILS:
Target audience: Nurses, nursing personnel and other health care professionals that are allowed to draw blood samples per state regulations as part of their job.
Overall goal of the activity: To instruct nursing and other health care professionals in phlebotomy venipuncture, capillary puncture techniques, common blood tests, and sample handling.
Activity Goals and Objectives- Upon successful completion of this activity the attendee will be able to:
1: Describe the effects of venipuncture on the vein wall.
2: Describe veins appropriate for phlebotomy procedures.
3: List two devices used for collection of blood samples
4: State the rationale for drawing into tubes in the
correct order.
5: Describe methods to prevent test result errors.
6: Describe three potential complications of a phlebotomy procedure.
7: Describe how to choose a viable vein for venipuncture.
8: List two steps in obtaining a blood sample utilizing the vacutainer or syringe method
9: List two steps of the Skin Puncture technique for capillary blood sampling
10: Score 75% or better on Phlebotomy test

This activity has been submitted to the New York State Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The New York State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
5.5 Contact Hours are earned. Contact hours can be offered until August 17, 2012. There is no commercial support for this activity.

Our self study courses contain the same theory content as our in-person classes and the courses include competency tools designed to be used with a preceptor for follow up clinical supervision in initial procedures performed after the class.
For maximum benefit upon completion of a class, set up practice with a clinical preceptor as soon as possible. Our suggestions for clinical preceptors follow below. Follow your employer's policies and procedures prior to practicing any procedure.
